Frequently asked questions

The practical details

Clear answers to the questions private-client practices commonly ask before taking the next step.

What contract terms are available?

Superlawyer offers a rolling monthly contract with no tie-in period. Longer contracts are also available if your firm prefers the certainty of a longer term.

Can we cancel at any time?

Yes. Customers on the rolling monthly contract can cancel at any time. The terms for any longer contract will be set out before you agree to it.

What does Superlawyer Standard cost?

Superlawyer Standard is £99 per user per month plus VAT. It includes specialist private-client drafting, matters, workflows, CRM, billing and native legal accounting, with a rolling-monthly option, no setup fee, assisted onboarding and UK-based support.

Do we need to provide payment details for the free trial?

No. The 14-day free trial does not require payment details.

When does the 14-day trial begin?

The trial begins after the assisted setup is complete, so you do not lose trial time while the workspace is being prepared.

What happens after we request a trial?

We aim to respond within one working day, arrange a quick demonstration, and then set up your firm so you can experience the platform directly.

How long does setup take?

Trial setup follows the initial demonstration and depends on what your firm needs to evaluate. For migration, a prepared CSV-only import can take under one hour; that is the import time only and excludes exporting, mapping and validation. Enterprise firms can plan a weekend cutover to minimise disruption.

Can our existing data be migrated?

Yes. Every source system is supported through CSV import tools. You map exported columns to Superlawyer standard or custom fields, with help from our team. Several widely used will-writing and legal practice systems also have provider-specific routes with pre-saved mappings and extraction support.

Can we export our data if we later leave?

Yes. Data export is one of our published commitments. You can export your data in standard formats, including documents and accounting records, and our team will help you plan an orderly exit.

Where is customer data stored?

Customer data is stored only on UK-based servers. More detail about data residency and security is available in the Superlawyer Trust Centre.

What security certifications does Superlawyer hold?

Superlawyer is ISO 27001 certified and Cyber Essentials certified. Microsoft Entra single sign-on also helps firms protect access and administer users centrally.

Can we control what different users can see and do?

Yes. Roles are fully customisable, with 100+ configurable permissions to match different responsibilities across the firm.

Which regulators' accounts rules does the legal accounting system support?

The legal accounting system supports the shared controls required across the SRA, CLC and CILEx Regulation accounts regimes, with regulator-specific timings, responsibilities and reporting sitting over the top. Compliance stays your firm's responsibility - Superlawyer makes it easier to operate and evidence.

Can we control who approves client account payments?

Yes. Transaction requests separate who asks for a payment from who approves it, with segregation of duties able to require that approvers differ from requesters. Accounting periods can be locked once reviewed, and sensitive changes are recorded on a permanent audit trail.

Can independent will writers and estate-planning practices use Superlawyer?

Yes. Superlawyer is available to regulated firms, whether the SRA, CLC or CILEx Regulation sets their rules, and to independently operated will-writing and estate-planning practices. The specialist drafting, matters, workflows, billing and reporting can support either model. Features connected with regulatory obligations should be configured and used for the organisation's actual status.

Does every practice need the legal accounting features?

No. Native legal accounting is part of Superlawyer Standard and is especially valuable to regulated firms that hold client money. Independent practices can use the billing and financial controls that suit their operating model. Compliance stays each regulated firm's responsibility.

What support is available?

UK-based phone support is available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Tickets can also be raised, with a service aim to provide at least an acknowledgement or resolution within one working hour during support hours.

Are training and onboarding included?

Yes. Superlawyer provides assisted onboarding and training to introduce your team to its configured workspace and workflows.

Is there a knowledge base?

Yes. Practical articles and guidance are available in the resources area, and the support team is available when the published guidance does not cover your question.
